What is on record

The first of the three Shadow Wardens, fought in a Pangzhen square with the Armybreaker polearm: tumbling rolls into spear strikes, a continuous thrust that ends in a Sha-Chi drain, and quick backsteps into upward slashes. Mostly slow and linear; aggressive play can knock him down.

Who he is

Cavalrybane is the first of the three Shadow Wardens whose deaths unlock the bronze trophy Three Wardens Fall, "Defeat the three Shadow Wardens: Cavalrybane, Soulclaimer, and Heartpiercer" (PowerPyx, Oct 29, 2026). He is a required boss in the chapter Town of Death, midway through Pangzhen. The guides disagree on the landmark: Fextralife puts him at the Huang Manor Crossroads outside the Order's underground tavern, KeenGamer's boss list says near the Pavilion of Knowledge Crossroads, and its weapons guide says near the Marketplace. PowerPyx's capture opens on the Pangzhen map with the Huang Manor Crossroads bell selected, at 10% completion. Game8 files him under the Perfect Transcensions.

What the footage shows

The arena is a rain-wet flagstone square with lanterns, carts and overturned tables between timber buildings. The name bar "Cavalrybane, Elite Shadow Warden" is on screen from 0:15 to about 1:15. He wears a wide straw hat and a long cloak and carries a broad-bladed polearm; at 0:15 the screen fills with red streaks as he lunges, at 0:55 he drives in low with the blade, at 1:10 he leaps with it raised, and at 1:15 a last cinematic strike ends the fight. At 1:20 the Armybreaker is picked up; its in-game description reads, "A broad-bladed polearm built to break enemy formations. It has high shield breaking power and can rush into enemies," with Damage 296 and Guard Break 155 at that point in the run.

Attacks and how the guides handle them

Game8 describes three sequences. The forward tumble roll into a two-hit spear attack is his most common move and ends in a dodgeable strike; dodging it triggers a cinematic counter that drains much of his stagger bar. The continuous thrust ends in a Sha-Chi draining attack: block the thrust, then dodge the ender, and if his stagger bar is low enough while you hold block he staggers and opens up. After quick backward steps he throws two upward spear slashes, then either a Sha-Chi drain plus a parryable hit or the dodgeable tumble; watch the glints to tell which.

Fextralife names six: the Leaping Slam (he spins the polearm in the air and impales your position; dodge when he lands), Glancing Hits (pounce, two swipes and a sidestep; parry the pounce and track him), the Two-Hit Combo (vertical slash and a spinning second; block the first and retaliate), the Impaling Charge (block through, then dodge sideways from the final thrust), Charged Slashes (a backward spin and a vertical slash; block the first, dodge the second) and the Reverse Slash (a vertical cut and an upward one from the ground; dodge back or parry the follow-up). It calls him a relatively straightforward boss with slow, linear attacks whom aggressive play can knock down even without emptying his Sha-Chi.

Drops

The Armybreaker main weapon, on this site's weapons page from the retail equipment menu; the in-game description above matches that entry.

Phase notes

The phases above are the ones shown in official footage, named by their on-screen name bars. Tells, punish windows and health thresholds are added only once the retail fight has been checked; we do not invent them from trailer cuts.
