What is on record

The 2024 demo's Commander Cleave under his retail name: a heavily armoured, straw-hatted warrior with a long jagged cleaver, fought in the retail game in a village clearing under a red-leaved tree on the Mountain of Imprisonment, near the Cavern Passage bell. His swings are delayed and erratic, and several flash red (unblockable). Drops the Juggernaut two-handed blade, which builds Red Edge for its Crimson Wheel Slash.

In the retail game

Bi Feng is the boss the 2024 demo called Commander Cleave (Chinese 横刀队长, "the captain with the horizontal blade"), the second fight of that demo between Tie Sha and Huangxing. The retail game settles the question this page used to hedge: PowerPyx's capture (Oct 29, 2026) shows the name bar "Bi Feng, Giant Saber Commander" over the same armoured, straw-hatted warrior with the same jagged cleaver, in the same village clearing under a red-leaved tree. He is an optional boss of the Mountain of Imprisonment, the true-ending region, reached from the Cavern Passage bell, and the bronze trophy "The Two Blade Masters" ("Defeat Zhu Yuan and Commander Bi Feng") pairs him with Zhu Yuan. We keep the original page address so that older links still work.

He drops the Juggernaut two-handed blade (KeenGamer, Oct 29 and 30, 2026). Two retail captures show different figures on its level-1 item card: Damage 288, Guard Break 114 in PowerPyx's (2:06, Oct 29, 2026) and Damage 296, Guard Break 155 in Ben-Gun's (3:20:41, Oct 30, 2026). We do not know why they differ. Both cards give the same description and moves: Standard Combo, Sha-Chi Combo and Crimson Wheel Slash, which spends the Red Edge stacks that parries build.

What the retail fight looks like

PowerPyx's capture opens on the Mountain of Imprisonment map at the Cavern Passage bell, 28% complete. From 0:04 Soul walks through mossy ruins with stacked pots, along a path and over tiled roofs (0:13), and at 0:17 into a village clearing: a huge tree with red leaves, wooden houses and crates, red leaves carpeting the ground, with Bi Feng standing under the tree. The name bar is on screen from 0:18. He is the demo's figure, a broad man in full armour and a wide conical straw hat, swinging a long, heavy, saw-edged cleaver in both hands.

For the first forty seconds the whole clearing is washed red (0:19 to about 0:40), the tree's canopy and the light together; by 0:45 the light is back to grey-green and the fight continues among the houses and a fenced yard. His red-flash attacks come at 0:23, 0:35 and 1:15, the red glow at the blade or at his hat marking the unblockable swing; at 0:29 sparks fly as Soul's blade meets his, and at 0:45 and 1:25 Soul answers with a green Phantom Edge sweep. At 1:45 he raises the cleaver overhead at full stretch; at 1:59 the execution flash ends the fight and at 2:01 he lies in the grass. The item card at 2:06 reads: "Juggernaut. Two Handed. Damage 288, Guard Break 114. A vicious blade that once swept the streets of the town. It has high shield breaking power and accumulate [Red Edge] to unleash a powerful attack." Its moves are listed as Standard Combo, Sha Chi Combo ("Can be unleashed after any swing during a Standard Combo. With enough Sha Chi, it becomes an enhanced attack with increased damage and Guard Break") and Crimson Wheel Slash, which spends the Red Edge stacks.

In Ben-Gun's playthrough a short scene from 3:17:20 shows Soul under the red tree, then Bi Feng in close-up, straw hat low and the cleaver held flat across his body, with the clearing washed red behind him. His name bar is on screen from 3:17:48 to 3:20:37, a little under three minutes, and the "Equip the new weapon now?" prompt with the Juggernaut card follows at 3:20:41. Neither he nor Soul speaks during the fight.

Attacks

Not on record for the retail build. No English guide published by Nov 2, 2026 lists his attacks or counters; the 2024 hands-on reports below describe his delayed, erratic timing, and the retail footage shows red-flash (unblockable) swings at 0:23, 0:35 and 1:15 and an overhead raise at 1:45. This site does not invent tells from footage.

Before launch

In PlayStation's Gamescom 2024 demo video (htgOZBMZV4I) his name bar runs from 1:48 to 2:36. The fight is in a village clearing under red-leaved trees, the ground carpeted in fallen red leaves, with wooden houses and a cart behind. He wears full armour and a wide conical hat and carries a long, heavy jagged blade in both hands (1:54 to 1:56, 2:16). A red flash at 2:26 marks an unblockable attack; Soul answers at 2:12 with a burst of fire, and the fight ends at 2:36 with an execution. In "The Blade is Drawn" trailer he appears at 1:07 to 1:15 in the same clearing.

Shacknews describes him as "a heavy-armored warrior with a jagged blade known (somewhat hilariously) as Commander Cleave". But Why Tho calls him "a curved blade-wielding warrior with delayed and erratic attack patterns", which is the point of the fight: his timing punishes early parries. GamingBolt notes that in the Gamescom build the player could wield Cleave's weapon afterwards, with its own move set; in the retail game that weapon is the Juggernaut he drops.

Phase notes

One name bar for the whole retail fight in PowerPyx's and Ben-Gun's captures. The clearing is washed red for the first forty seconds or so, then the light returns to grey-green; that is lighting, not a second phase. We have not measured health thresholds.
