What is on record

The 2024 demo's first named boss: a bare-chested axeman who opens with heavy strikes and follows with chains of slashes, fought in a scaffolded courtyard. In the retail game he is Iron Butcher, the Frenzied Brute, an optional boss of the Mountain of Imprisonment near The Lady's Path bell, in the same courtyard with the same entrance; that page carries the retail record and this one stays as the 2024 demo record.

Who he is

Tie Sha the Frenzy was the first named boss of the 2024 demo that S-GAME took to Summer Game Fest, Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show that year; the Chinese name 癫狂暴徒铁杀 means "Tie Sha the frenzied brute", and Tie (铁) means iron. In the retail game the same fight, in the same courtyard with the same entrance, carries the name bar "Iron Butcher, the Frenzied Brute": an optional boss of the Mountain of Imprisonment near The Lady's Path bell, which drops the Iron Butcher Mask. The retail record, timings and the mask's text are on the Iron Butcher page; this page keeps the 2024 record and the reasoning for the match.

Which retail boss he is

Three things in PowerPyx's retail capture of Iron Butcher (Oct 29, 2026) match the 2024 demo's Tie Sha fight and nothing in the Jagged Steel capture does. The entrance: at 1:10 the camera finds a bare-chested, green-haired brute on the cliff above the courtyard with his axe raised over his shoulder, at 1:14 he leaps down and at 1:16 lands among the crates, the same shot as PlayStation's Gamescom 2024 video at 0:57 to 1:03. The arena: a grassy, rubble-strewn courtyard under wooden scaffolding with a ladder, with stacked crates, a campfire, a shrine of red candles against the back wall and a large woven disc leaning by the scaffold, all present in both captures. The region: the retail fight is on the Mountain of Imprisonment near The Lady's Path bell, and the 2024 demo's other two bosses, Commander Cleave (now Bi Feng) and Huangxing, are also on the Mountain of Imprisonment in the retail game. Jagged Steel, the other Frenzied Brute, is fought in a dark riverbed in Weeping Creek Valley with none of these features.

So the 2024 demo level is the Mountain of Imprisonment, and Tie Sha the Frenzy is Iron Butcher, the Frenzied Brute, renamed for release as Huangxing's rooftop foe and Commander Cleave were. No source states the identification in words; it rests on the footage comparison above.

Pre-release footage (2024 demo)

In PlayStation's Gamescom 2024 demo video (htgOZBMZV4I) his name bar appears at 1:06 in a grassy stone courtyard ringed by wooden scaffolding and watchtowers, with crates and a campfire at one end. He is a heavy, bare-chested man with a large single-headed axe raised over his shoulder (1:16). A red flash at 1:11 marks an unblockable swing, and the fight ends at 1:32 with the white execution glyph. The same courtyard and the same execution appear in "The Blade is Drawn" trailer at 0:50 to 0:55.

What hands-on reports say

But Why Tho's TGS 2024 hands-on says he "struck aggressively with a massive handaxe, often following up with multiple slashes and swings", and uses the fight to describe Ghostep, the smoke-shrouded flip that a perfectly timed dodge or block triggers. Gamereactor, at Summer Game Fest 2024, grouped him with Commander Cleave as mini bosses that "required better timing and strategy, with their more complex patterns and devastating blows". Digital Trends called him "a mid-boss wielding a giant axe". All of this describes the 2024 build.

Phase notes

The phases above are the ones shown in official footage, named by their on-screen name bars. Tells, punish windows and health thresholds are added only once the retail fight has been checked; we do not invent them from trailer cuts.
