What is on record

An optional boss of the Mandate Encampment, fought in the dusty yard below the wooden gatehouse near the Beneath the Watchtower bell: a huge, bald, shirtless man swinging a golden melon-headed hammer. His charges kick up dust that hides the arena, and his red (unblockable) attack is a grab. Drops the Bashpole Phantom Edge, which also smashes weakened floors when exploring.

Who he is

Wan Jun "Coppermaul" was the opening boss of the Seven Star Sword Formation level in the demo S-GAME showed at its S-Party event in July 2025 and then at Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show 2025; Chinese coverage calls him 巨锤客万钧, "Wan Jun the giant-hammer man". In the retail game he is an optional boss of the Mandate Encampment, fought in the same dusty yard below the wooden gatehouse, and his name bar now reads "Wan Jun, the Coppermaul" without the demo's quotation marks (PowerPyx, Oct 29, 2026). He is still the one demo boss whose drop was known in advance: the Bashpole. He is not tied to a trophy.

In the 2025 demo he died calling out to a "Master Huangxing", the Kunlun Renegade fought later; PowerPyx's retail capture only has his "Ngh..." at 2:41 before the cutscene is skipped, so whether the retail line is the same is not on record here.

What the retail footage shows

PowerPyx's capture (Oct 29, 2026) opens on the Mandate Encampment map at the Beneath the Watchtower bell, 29% complete. At 0:06 Soul is already in the yard, a flat dirt ground in front of a wooden palisade, stairs and a gatehouse, the demo arena at the same sunset hour, and the name bar is on screen from 0:08 as Wan Jun lumbers in: bald, bare-chested, built like a wrestler, with a hammer whose golden, ribbed, melon-shaped head is as big as his torso.

The fight is the demo's fight. His charges throw up dust that whites out the camera (0:40, and a longer whiteout around 1:12), Soul answers with green Phantom Edge sweeps (0:12, 1:40, 2:30), and at 1:18 the screen tints as he lunges for the red grab. From about 1:30 the fight moves to the fenced edge of the yard, where he smashes through the wooden fencing (1:24, 1:58). At 2:34 the screen goes dark for the finish, at 2:40 the camera is on his bloodied face, and at 2:41 he says "Ngh..." and falls. The Bashpole card at 2:50 reads: "Bashpole. Destructive. Damage 221, Guard Break 237. A melon-shaped hammerhead, capable of shattering stone, cracking the earth, and crushing enemies with ground-shaking force. It has high shield-breaking power." Its skill, Groundbreaker: "Hold to whirl Bashpole in wide, sweeping attacks. Release to finish with a ground-shaking slam." The exploration card at 2:55: "The Bashpole can smash through weakened floors even when not equipped."

Attacks

Not on record for the retail build. No English guide published by Nov 2, 2026 lists his attacks or counters. What is on record: Famitsu's TGS 2025 hands-on below (slow, hard-hitting, charging attacks, a red grab, dust that blocks the view), and the retail footage, which shows the same dust whiteouts (0:40, 1:12) and the red grab (1:18). This site does not invent tells from footage.

Drops

The Bashpole Phantom Edge (KeenGamer and Game8, Oct 30, 2026; item card in PowerPyx's capture at 2:50: Destructive, Damage 221, Guard Break 237, skill Groundbreaker). The exploration ability smashes weakened floors even when it is not equipped. The Bashpole is on this site's weapons page.

Pre-release footage (2025 demo)

In S-GAME's own walkthrough of the 2025 demo (YouTube kwVgxmwgkfI, 7:19 to 8:35) the fight takes place in a dusty open yard in front of a wooden palisade and gatehouse at sunset. Wan Jun is built like a wrestler, bare-headed and shirtless, and swings a hammer with a round metal head as big as his own torso. Between 7:40 and 7:46 the camera is almost whited out by the dust his blows raise, which matches what previewers describe as a sight-blocking attack; red flashes at 7:28 and 7:31 mark his unblockable moves. Soul finishes him at 8:34 with a blue sweeping strike, and the camera lingers on the fallen hammer.

As he dies he calls out to a "Master Huangxing", the same name as the later boss Huangxing, the Kunlun Renegade; what the retail game says about Huangxing is on that boss's page.

What hands-on reports say

Famitsu, playing the TGS 2025 build, found him "not especially fast" but hard-hitting, with charging attacks, and singled out the red grab as the real danger; it also notes the dust can briefly block the view. GamingBolt's report on the S-Party footage describes him simply as a boss who "attacks with a giant mace". Both are describing the 2025 demo build, so numbers and timings may change at retail.

Phase notes

The phases above are the ones shown in official footage, named by their on-screen name bars. Tells, punish windows and health thresholds are added only once the retail fight has been checked; we do not invent them from trailer cuts.
