What is on record
The Order's Shadow Sovereign opens the game as the prologue duel and closes it as the true final boss: after Meng Hua he leads Soul through the gold portal into the Fallen Dream, fights first as the Shadow Sovereign with flung golden blades, then as the True Lóng in a monochrome lake with a dragon rising from the water. Drops the Aureate, the Broken Long Body and the Radiant Heart.
Who he is
Zuo Shang, the Order's Shadow Sovereign, is the first name bar in the game and the last. In the prologue, Diverging Paths, he is the tutorial duel that ends in a cutscene; Fextralife's wiki notes he also appears as an ordinary enemy in the combat tutorial before it. On the true-ending route he returns after Meng Hua: KeenGamer's endings guide says he leads Soul through a golden portal at the top of Soulrend Cliff into the Fallen Dream, a version of Soul's childhood home. The fight has two forms, and beating him ends the game with the gold trophy "With Heart and Blood" ("All Comes to Light"), which PowerPyx marks missable; the normal ending has no trophy. KeenGamer lists him as the drop for the Aureate main weapon.
Reaching the true ending
PowerPyx's true-ending guide (Oct 29, 2026) lists the ten purple-icon quests to finish before entering the Mirage Estate (Deep in the Valley, Illusion of Inanis, Sha-Chi Powered Boat, Allure of Vanity, Illusory Pipa, Pillars of Kunlun, Whence the Weeping, The Herald's Illusion, Crimson Manor, Secrets at the Heart of the Lake), then Bloodline Awakening after the five Long Pillars. KeenGamer adds Zhu Yuan and Bi Feng, and Quick Hand Zhang's requests, before the bell The Last Chance on Mount Soulrend, after which there is no leaving until an ending plays.
The prologue duel
Game8's prologue page names four sequences: ranged strikes that come from behind him during his melee combo, so watch his back and block on the audio cue; a finger snap that sends swords, then a heavy attack and a flying giant mace to dodge; a thrown sword that flies at you, followed by a lunge into a seven-hit string whose last hit is parried on the blue glint; and a circling swing, four kicks, four ranged attacks from the air and a heavy attack to dodge. Fextralife names the prologue's first-phase attacks Leaping Slash, Sword Flurry, Spinning Overhead Slash and Thrust and Spin, and the harder second phase's Sword Sweep, Diving Pierce and Pulsing Slash with summoned ethereal swords.
First form: the Shadow Sovereign
PowerPyx's capture (Oct 31, 2026) opens on Mount Soulrend at 88% completion with the Fallen Dream on the map. In the cutscene he says, "This is the only way we can truly save the Phantom World from being devoured!", and, "This is our final battle!" The name bar "Zuo Shang, the Order's Shadow Sovereign" is on screen from 1:15 to about 3:45. The arena is a misty grey forest in front of a temple: at 1:20 a huge golden blade, as tall as the trees, swings down at Soul, at 2:00 a second one sweeps flat across the clearing, and at 3:20 he stands still with a sword glowing purple. At 2:50 he calls, "Shadow Lóng Sword!", and at 3:15, "I will reshape the Wulin... and recreate the Phantom World!" KeenGamer's three attack patterns for this fight, the finger snap and sword volley, the thrown sword and lunge, and the four-kick aerial sequence, match the prologue's; its advice is to chip his stagger bar between combos.
Second form: the True Lóng
From 3:50 the name bar reads "Zuo Shang, the True Lóng" (PowerPyx's title spells it Long). At 3:55 the scene is a golden palace with a staircase, Soul in red inside a pale shield; from 4:30 the fight moves to a lake in black and white, ringed by bamboo, with Soul wading in a red robe and Zuo Shang in gold armour and white hair. At 5:00 he leaps from the water; at 5:20 a dragon's head rises behind him out of the lake; at 5:40 the two close in the shallows amid flying gold. His lines here are "The old order falls. A new world begins!" (4:15), "Perish in the Lóng's breath!" (4:45) and "The Blight in all its forms... is mine to command!" (5:50). The fight ends around 7:05; the ending follows from about 7:10, with Mu Tianmiao's epilogue at about 8:45.
Drops
The Aureate main weapon, the Broken Long Body and the Radiant Heart (KeenGamer), plus the Legacy outfit per KeenGamer's endings guide. Aureate is on the weapons page, from the equipment menu in Ben-Gun's all-weapons showcase (0:00); no capture of its post-fight item card has been found. The Broken Long Body and Radiant Heart are not on that page.
The phases above are the ones shown in official footage, named by their on-screen name bars. Tells, punish windows and health thresholds are added only once the retail fight has been checked; we do not invent them from trailer cuts.
